Evaluating a marker's contribution to a nomogram: the GEMCaP example.
نویسنده
چکیده
A postoperative nomogram developed in 1999 by Kattan et al. has been externally validated, but needs improvement. This tool predicts well but not perfectly. The Genomic Evaluators of Metastatic Prostate Cancer (GEMCaP) biomarkers hold promise for improving this tool; however, a larger data set that permits more involved analyses is needed.

A group of genome-based biomarkers that add to a Kattan nomogram for predicting progression in men with high-risk prostate cancer.
PURPOSE The three main treatment options for primary prostate cancer are surgery, radiation, and active surveillance. Surgical and radiation intervention for prostate cancer can be associated with significant morbidity. Therefore, accurate stratification predictive of outcome for prostate cancer patients is essential for appropriate treatment decisions. Nomograms that use clinical and pathologi...
متن کاملSemiparametric methods for evaluating the covariate-specific predictiveness of continuous markers in matched case-control studies.
To assess the value of a continuous marker in predicting the risk of a disease, a graphical tool called the predictiveness curve has been proposed. It characterizes the marker's predictiveness, or capacity to risk stratify the population by displaying the distribution of risk endowed by the marker. Methods for making inference about the curve and for comparing curves in a general population hav...
متن کاملDiagnostic Value of Risk Nomogram for the Prediction of Postpartum Hemorrhage Following Vaginal Delivery
Background: Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) is considered as one of the major causes of maternal mortality worldwide. The most effective risk factors have been suggested in various studies on risk nomogram for the prediction of PPH. Aim: This study aimed to determine the diagnostic value of the risk nomogram for the prediction of PPH. Method: Thi...
متن کاملPerformance of the Genomic Evaluators of Metastatic Prostate Cancer (GEMCaP) tumor biomarker for identifying recurrent disease in African American patients.
Evaluation of prostate cancer prognosis after surgery is increasingly relying upon genomic analyses of tumor DNA. We assessed the ability of the biomarker panel Genomic Evaluators of Metastatic Prostate Cancer (GEMCaP) to predict biochemical recurrence in 33 European American and 28 African American prostate cancer cases using genome-wide copy number data from a previous study. "Biomarker posit...
